A job exists which requires you to travel the world and eat — and you can apply
Usually work requires compromise; either you get to eat at amazing restaurants or travel to beautiful places or get paid loads or do something you love.
But plant-based food subscription service Vibrant Vegan Co is looking for a new ‘director of taste’; a role which involves all of those things.
The job will require exploring India, China, Turkey, Chile, Mexico and Japan, looking for new, unique plant-based ingredients, recipes and techniques to inspire product innovation.
As well as seeking out the local foods, they’ll be tasked with forming partnerships to enable the company to source their finds.

And bonus: the company is offering a £50,000 salary for the troubles, as well as expenses, including travel, food and accommodation.
Acknowledged by Vibrant Vegan Co as ‘a big ask’, the only potential downside (or upside, depending on circumstance) is the successful candidate will be away for months at a time — up to four — so maybe not ideal if there’s a new baby/puppy/partner on the scene.
‘We are always on the hunt for new talent, because I’m a firm believer that it’s the people that make a successful company. However, I don’t think we’ve ever recruited for a job this exciting before,’ says founder Iain Burke-Hamilton.
‘There are hundreds of ingredients across the world that haven’t been presented to the UK consumer, so we hope our new recruit will be able to inspire some new and tasty recipes.’

The company takes its ethics seriously; as well as using old jeans as insulation in their freezer bags (how f*cking cool is that?), they also work closely with children’s charity War Child to tackle child hunger in war zones across the world.
As with any (dream) job, entrants need suitable experience; with at least three years experience in the food business or as a chef, though they needn’t be vegan despite the company’s USP.
They warn the interview process will be rigorous, including an in-house taste test to check their palette is ‘up to scratch’.
