Just in: your May 2019 horoscope
These are turbulent times and the first half of May reflects that with some dramatic developments to our old school ways of doing things.
Things are changing, bringing an opportunity to ditch what’s not working for you (like the patriarchal structures that have reigned for centuries). But it’s exciting; sure, we’re at a crisis point but that’s when we’re at our most resilient and we realise how strong we really are.
In fact, it’s an opportunity to prioritise and ditch the things that aren’t integral to our happiness and wellbeing, including beliefs as well as belongings, which can be tricky to recognise in ourselves.
Taurus (April 21st – May 22nd)
It’s a time for reinvention; for those April babies, it’s manifesting as speaking out and shaking things up, whereas those born in May are feeling a bit less urgent for liberation. The New Moon on 4th gives you an opportunity to set new intentions, based on what you love.
Tension will ease as the month goes on, as the sun moves away from Uranus, giving you the op to relax.
The positioning of Saturn and Pluto (in travel and belief) make it a good time to consider next steps; with revelations helping to answer those questions about what you should be believing, understanding and teaching — even if it’s breaking from tradition.
Gemini (May 22nd – June 22nd)
You’ll notice ideas which have been bubbling for some time rising to the surface, guided by the Capricorn collective which is encouraging you to more deeply explore your subconscious this month — particularly around May 11-14th, when you’ll question some of your long-held beliefs. Get ready for it as it could be a time of incredible illumination anf getting to know your true self better.
With Mars in Gemini until 16th, relationships are in the spotlight; use it wisely, whether it’s dealing with issues in a current pairing or coming round to the idea of venturing into a new one.
Focus on your health, specifically on the habits and routines that serve you, around Full Moon on 18th, making sure you’re looking after yourself sufficiently.
Cancer (June 22nd – July 23rd)
Continuing the focus on relationships — romantic, friendships, colleagues and with oneself, Cancers are ready for action at the start of this month, thanks to the Moon in Aries then its meeting with Uranus.
Things simmer down at bit around the New Moon on 4th, giving you a breather from long-standing tensions and the opportunity to seek out things that make you happy.
From around mid month, you’ll notice a ramp up in mood; likely feeling more energetic and potentially argumentative as Mars moves into Gemini on 16th. Focus on seeing friends between 15th-22nd, whether it’s people you already know or have linked with online. And just take a moment to consider your relationships; remember they’re reflections of our selves, so they can provide a way to pull out things we like in ourselves and work on elements we don’t.
Leo (July 23rd – August 23rd)
Notoriously Leos love to be adored and this month you should give into your natural instincts. Showing off how great you are will come particularly naturally at the beginning of the month, with power and gravitas backing you, particularly emotionally around 3rd. On 4th the New Moon is in Taurus, making it a time to question how you want to be thought of; both now and in the future.
There’s a real work focus between 15th-22nd, directing the changes in your life to the habits and routines that support it best; maybe it’s detoxing mentally, physically and spiritually, reconsidering which of your unhelpful conditioned beliefs are in need an upgrade.
Your thoughts will switch to your home life around 18th with the Full Moon, encouraging you to find the balance between looking after yourself and your ambitions.
Virgo (August 23rd – September 23rd)
The month starts in a whirlwind of actioning plans and cutting what’s not serving you, thanks to Mercury pairing with Mars. Then it meets Saturn and Pluto, bringing our ways of expressing ourselves into the spotlight. Though this can be annoying, it has the potential to open our minds to different ways of doing things — which is important as our old ways aren’t always right. The 4th brings the New Moon and the best day to plan a future trip or positive intention.
Things shift on 7th, when Mercury moves to Taurus, giving you energy and inspiration for a few weeks — particularly on 14th, when you’ll have the urge to balance what you need with what you want. On 16th, your brain focus will move from career to friends and connections.
Libra (September 23rd – October 23rd)
You might be feeling loved up, thanks to Venus in your love sector until the 16th of May, so make the most of it. But also use it as an opportunity to reflect on your situation; are you holding onto exes? Is it time to let go of the past?
Your finance sector is the focus on 4th (Full Moon), so your questions should shift to your money situation: how are you feeling about it? Do you need a sensible financial strategy? If so, now’s the time.
It’s also about empowerment, so consider how intimate you are with others and whether you have psychic junk that requires a declutter.
On 17th, Mars moves into your career zone, making you feel punchier and more determined about choices, that could rile your superiors but use it as energy to get where you want to be.
Scorpio (October 23rd – November 22nd)
Your relationships are notoriously mysterious, remaining liaisons until quite late on. But Uranus adds a zing that can set about changes in your perspective.
Around 7th for two weeks, when Mercury is in your relationship sector, it’s a time to talk to people and, with Venus arriving on 16th, it’s time to show your appreciation for the people you love (and reap the mutually appreciative benefits!).
If you’re in a relationship, nurture your partner on 4th with the New Moon; finding out what you need from one another to feel content, happy and close. Then, with the Full Moon in Scorpio on 18th, aim to balance your needs vs theirs.
Watch out for a sudden shift as Venus aligns with Uranus, which can mean the end or the beginning of a partnership. But remember: while trusting your instincts or fearing change, not to be too hasty — especially as Mars can be a little reckless. The upside of ruling Mars, in your travel and education sector, is it’s an exciting time to look at expansions on the horizon.
Sagittarius (November 22nd – December 21st)
Until 11th August, Jupiter is in retrograde, as well as Saturn and Pluto, which means things are moving slowly. Except Mars, which continues to make himself known in your relationship sector; flaring up issues that may have stayed settled.
But this is the general theme for the month; reflecting on the things that need changing, whether it’s stagnant habits and routines. With Uranus around, it’s time to make those shifts — try nurturing the mind and body through regular meditation to help boost your feelings of self-worth.
On 17th, Mars moves to Cancer giving you the opportunity to look at the balance in your life, taking practice steps towards (financial) security which peaks in June.
With a magnifying glass on your beliefs and way of living, it can feel unsettled but it’s a real opportunity for transformation.
Capricorn (December 21st – January 21st)
Leading by example, you pioneering Capricorns are rethinking their identity, lead by your ruler in retrograde until September 18th. Expression will come easily for the first few days of the month but you might meet challenges, which could leave you feeling frustrated.
But, on the upside, Mercury and Venus are making you feel creative; which may manifest as romance, self-expression or just some fun.
Focuses flip to your relationship on 16th, thanks to Mars, so make that important decision — in spite of repercussions from the people around you, but deal with it with transparency rather than being dragged towards passive-aggressiveness by Mars in Cancer.
The Full Moon on 18th brings more fun, especially with friends, so remember to enjoy the light bits too!
Aquarius (21st January – 19th February)
As is typical of sociable Aquarius, you’ll have a happy first half of the month engaging with people and future plans. But as the month progresses, it will become more about your home and family as the New Moon is in its sector which may see a shift later in the year.
Tension peaks between your home and work life around Full Moon (18th) which leads to a rebalance, benefiting you and others.
Dreams will likely be big this month as the Capricorn plants are in the sector of the subconscious. Try writing them down and see what knowledge they hold.
Pisces (February 19th – March 21st)
A month for serious thought, the New Moon (4th) will spark curiosity and a desire to speak to others about your values and ideas. But use the time to also ask yourself reflective questions; like what you truly love and how you deal with things.
This inquisitiveness increases and, from 16th, what started as thoughts will start manifesting in action and creative pursuits, fitting with a quizzical Full Moon (18th) which asks you to think about how much time you dedicate to your own self-growth.
Take a moment to consider how much you share your knowledge as sometimes development can come from speaking to others too.
Aries (March 21st – April 21st)
You’ll notice a lot happening in the first half of the month; particularly romance, thanks to Venus in Aries. The New Moon (4th) is a good time to address your personal values and set some intentions to get everything aligned.
From 16th, things will be about your home life and, though you enjoy busyness, your base camp and security is still there and needs occasional attention, whether it’s family, friends or just the space. This is at odds with Mars, your fiery rules that might make you feel extra enthused for activities.
The Full Moon (18th) encourages you to look at your values; what’s important financially, your inner beliefs and your closest relationships.
