Mollie King on finding confidence
As winter sets in, it’s the ideal time to rediscover your inner glow.
After all as the beginning of 2020 beckons, and you’re filled with thoughts of a “new year, new you”, it’s time to boost your skin’s lustre and galvanize your confidence once and for all.
It’s why FOREO, the leading wellness and beauty tech brand from Sweden, wants you to Boost Your Glow.
FOREO has teamed up with the beloved broadcaster, presenter and singer Mollie King, as well as confidence coach Lucy Sheridan to inspire women to become more self-confident in their own skin.
“In a world where everything is now posted on social media, it’s no surprise to me to hear that there is an increased pressure on women and men for ‘perfection’,” says Mollie. “In a survey carried out by FOREO, 61 per cent of women admitted they regularly compare themselves to others.
“I think it’s time we all championed each other, but at the same time, not forget to champion ourselves.” Hear, hear.
One way to boost that glow is with the new LUNA Mini 3; this smart skincare device gently lifts away 99.5 per cent of sweat, dirt and oil in only 30 seconds, giving you healthier glowing skin to help boost confidence. Linking to the FOREO For You app, the device stays up to date with the latest skincare tech to guarantee super-clean skin every day.
Mollie also adds, “It’s great that FOREO are shining a light on this. Through their Boost Your Glow campaign for the LUNA Mini 3, it is giving women access to advice on how to feel more confident and better manage our experiences with social media.
“For me, the most important thing to remember is there’s no such thing as ‘perfection’ – it’s all about embracing the skin you’re in and believing in yourself. That’s what I’m trying to do too.”
It’s inspiring stuff to hear, especially when you consider that half of 18-34 year olds surveyed said that they’ve stayed at home due to an issue with their skin, and it’s the same for 36 per cent of 35-44-year olds. It’s vital that we embrace our imperfections, and we weren’t surprised to hear that this comes easier with age.
Only 6 percent of those aged 55 or older surveyed admitted to staying at home because of their skin.
It does seem most of us can embrace the fact there’s no such thing as perfection. Indeed, 73 per cent of women don’t like to see filters or airbrushing, preferring instead to see real skin.
Lucy goes on to advise that, “Ultimately the answer lies in increasing your self-focus so you are deeply connected to what’s important to you, your goals and where you want to go. Next, building your self-confidence to deliver on those plans should come into place.
“This is loosely followed with growing your self-worth – feeling worthy, being able to receive and have the capacity to enjoy and thrive in the life that feels right for you.
“You can start by choosing a word or phrase – a compass word – to guide how you want to feel over the next 12 months and to make your choices and decisions so they align with that. This will ‘snap you out’ of comparison wobbles to break the cycle in the moment and bring you back to yourself.”
