TOP TIPS: ORGANIC ON A BUDGET
Shop in season. Buying organic fruit and veg when in season gives you the best value for money. Website Eat Seasonably does the hard work for you by listing all the fruits and veg good to eat right now.
Try a different cut of meat. Trying lower cost organic cuts like shoulder or belly can make a big difference to your wallet – and they have more beneficial nutrients too. Pop into your local butcher for advice.
Visit your local supermarket. Most major retailers – such as Tesco, Waitrose, Sainsbury’s, Aldi, Lidl, Asda and Morrisons – have their own brand organic ranges so look out for them while you’re shopping.
Opt for the basics. If you’re new to organic, milk is a great place to start. It has around 50% more beneficial omega-3 fatty acids and secures a good return for farmers.
Look for deals online. Bag a bargain this month (September) as organic food prices are slashed. See Soil Association for tips, recipes and discount vouchers – and don’t forget always to look for the Soil Association logo when you’re out shopping.
