Well Informed: How Instagram has changed eating out
The far reaching impact of Instagram is undeniable, with every aspect of modern life now documented via the social media platform.
But while foodies have found a new way to salivate at culinary creations, has our obsession with the aesthetic spoiled the experience of dining out? According to research by restaurant chain Zizzi, 30% of millennials said they wouldn’t visit a restaurant if it had a weak Instagram presence.
A report by hospitality experts HGEM showed 43% of respondents felt online interactions were central to the overall restaurant experience.
One restaurant embracing the trend is Dirty Bones. The American-style chain is giving diners free ‘Instagram kits’ with LED lights and selfie sticks.
