Topshop’s new vegan shoe collection has your summer wedding footwear sorted
If there’s one thing that gives vegan fashion the seal of mainstream approval, it’s acknowledgement from the high street — and not just any store, but Topshop.
The first entirely animal-free footwear collection launches this month, but with styles comprising sandals, sliders and mules, fans of flats or a more androgynous aesthetic will still have to look elsewhere. It’s more of a wedding guest vibe; lots of straps, block heels and — weirdly — mock skin effects.
But they are the real deal; handmade alongside the brand’s premium shoe line in Spain with non-animal product and non-fish glue, they’ve even had PETA’s approval.
‘We are really excited to be launching our first vegan collection’, said fashion director Maddy Evans. ‘We can’t wait to see how shoppers respond to the design-led collection and how far we can push vegan products across our accessories offering.’

At a time where the Arcadia owned brand has come under fire, mainly due to man at the helm chairperson Philip Green, it marks a new positive move in line with the customer’s interest in a vegan lifestyle — reflected in Google searches for ‘vegan shoes’ up 75% in the last five years.
