SURF’S UP
The capital may not exactly be synonymous with surfing but the chance to tackle the waves is closer than you think – in fact, the city boasts one of the world’s largest surfing communities.
London Surf Club was established in 1981 while London Surf Breaks takes surfers on weekends away, the next is 21-23 July in Croyde, Devon.
Within 60 miles of London are a myriad of surf spots: Brighton, Broadstairs, Eastbourne, Hastings and Camber Sands to name but a few.
And in October, don’t miss the dry land thrills of the 7th London Surf Film Festival.
TAKE THE PLUNGE
London now has 16 outside ‘pools’ which are recommended by the Outdoor Swimming Society, from Hampstead Heath Swimming Ponds to Serpentine Lido and Tooting Bec Lido.
