Opal: The October Birthstone of happy dreams
Amiee Carlton is an energy and motivational coach. She uses crystals as a modality for realignment and stimulation of the subtle bodies. Her aim is to educate us on the vibrational powers of crystals one month at a time.
For the month of October, we are going to explore the Opal. The Opal comes in many different varieties, however, the White precious Opal is the most well known and most commonly used in jewellery etc so let’s focus here for the sake of simplicity.
Opal (white precious opal) is mostly found in Australia however there have been mines located in Brazil, Japan, Navada and Honduras. During the Roman times the Opal was linked to good luck and hope. As generations have gone by this opinion has morphed into Opal having a strange reputation for being unlucky. To set any superstitious minds at rest, this reputation has a very logical truth behind it.
Opals swell and contract easily in heat or cold or wet. This makes the stone more volatile to work with and it can break easily if exposed to such variant temperatures. Clearly this is unlucky for any jewellers who are setting the stone, or for the unfortunate opal wearers who have fallen victim to their beautiful stone shattering before their very eyes.
Quite the contrary to being unlucky, the opal is in fact considered the “stone of happy dreams and changes.” An emotional amplifier; magnifying both the positive and the negative. We may not like it, but deep down we know there is always benefit to being aware of both, because the opal’s frequency is amplifying it brings about a consciousness to those using it. On the one hand, such a vibration will magnify our positive potentials which is always great. Who doesn’t like to be reminded of their brilliant self? However, there is always the other side of the coin. The same vibration will also amplify where we are out of alignment and show us what negative behaviours and destructive patterns are we exhibiting, and what we need to clear. Opal will give us insight into our own toxicity and to what needs balancing and re-evaluating. What needs to change in our lives for us to be in better flow. While such insight can be emotionally uncomfortable; it can be a tool for great emotional growth and soul purification.
The wonderful iridescent flecks of light in the opal stone are sometimes referred to as “fire flecks.” Flashes of insight into what we need to do in order to clear said negativity. These flecks are also termed by some as our “holy fire”, believed to be reflections of the impure aspects of our spiritual selves, the pieces of our personality that cause feelings of distress and discomfort. Use opal to connect with the said “holy fire” to rebalance the system and cool this supposed “heat.”
Apparently, the more open we are to releasing any negativity, rage, and toxic behaviour, the smoother and less enraging such firefighting will be. Resistance, on the other hand, will result in a highly emotionally sensitive journey. The end result for either surrender or resistance is a more balanced system and a cooled sense of self.
White precious opal is for sure an emotional teacher, the question is, how good a student do you want to be? Come quietly and with an openness to change and see your own potential for healing then you may pass with flying colours.
If you are leaning more towards cutting class and ditching your homework, then the graduation may be slower and fare more emotionally painful. Either way, once Opal has had a chance to balance your vibration to its frequency the results are a clear Distinction.
You will walk away with a clean and clear energy system, a higher vibration and far more room for Joy and positivity.
