The Beauty Benefits and Uses of Jojoba Oil
Jojoba oil is hands down one of my favourite oils for natural beauty. It’s so versatile, has a tonne of benefits for your skin and hair, and contains no nasty ingredients! With a long-lasting shelf life and affordable price, it’s a brilliant addition to your skincare routine.
This miracle oil also contains many important vitamins and minerals such as vitamin E, vitamin B, copper, zinc, iodine and silicon to name a few; as well as three fatty acids, which enables it to have the power to heal like it does.
HOW DO I USE IT?
Jojoba oil has many different uses and as it is non-toxic and completely natural, it is safe for your skin all over your body including your face. Typically, jojoba oil is used as a moisturiser where you would add around 4 drops of the oil to your face before bed to allow your skin to soak up the goodness overnight. As a body moisturiser you can add a few drops to coconut oil and apply all over your body, or simply use on its own.
You can also use Jojoba oil as a hair mask by adding 3-4 drops into your conditioner and leaving on your hair for around 5 minutes before rinsing off. It also makes a great lip balm if you do suffer from chapped, dry lips!
WHAT ARE THE BENEFITS?
1. Incredibly Moisturising
Having used pure jojoba oil on my skin as a moisturiser and in my bath a few times a week for the past few years I can tell you my skin has never been better. Jojoba oil is also a brilliant face moisturiser and has replaced any store-bought moisturisers I previously used as I found it to be more effective as well as completely natural.
Jojoba oil has the ability to balance out the amount of oils within our skin as it removes any excess oil which is why it is such a brilliant remedy for treating eczema.
2. Natural Makeup Remover
Jojoba oil is brilliant for your skin including your face. Using jojoba oil as a natural tool to remove makeup, dirt and bacteria from your face is a natural and cost-effective way of cleaning your skin and feeding it at the same time. It’s hypoallergenic and is particularly good at removing eye makeup!
Wet your face cloth with warm water and then add a small amount of jojoba oil to the face cloth and use all over your face to remove makeup or to simply cleanse your skin.
3. Feeds your Skin
Jojoba oil is noncomedogenic which means that although it’s an oil, it doesn’t clog pores. It’s high in iodine which helps to fight bacteria on the skin which leads to breakouts and clogged pores.
This miracle oil also contains levels of antioxidants which have been shown to slow down signs of aging including wrinkles and fine lines. It’s also been demonstrated that jojoba oil helps to stimulate collagen synthesis!
4. Keeps Hair Healthy and Strong
Jojoba oil helps to improve the texture of your hair by replenishing the moisture and getting rid of dandruff and dry scalp. Jojoba oil keeps your hair looking shiny and soft!
You can add a few drops of jojoba oil into your hair once washed and wet and then comb through to the ends before drying.
