5 Creative Events in London this Week
Last week was all about loving the people closest to us – so how about this week we try to spread that affection to our wider community and planet as a whole? Whether you fancy getting creative for the sake of living more sustainably, or sweating your way into Spring with an awesome fundraiser, there’s sure to be something for every sort of wellness seeker.
1. SWEAT THEN STRETCH: Hiit & Flow – in aid of WIRES Australia
A HIIT workout with a whole lotta heart, 100% of the funds raised from this class will be donated to the largest wildlife rescue organisation in Australia, WIRES, as they continue to deal with the aftermath of the 2019-20 bushfire season. Hosted at the mindful Re:Centre studio, expect a 45-minute bodyweight workout lead by health and lifestyle coach James Middleton, followed by a 30-minute stretch and flow with Mandy Jhamat – the co-founder of Yogasphere.

2. PAINT PARTY: Diffrent – Art Jam

This Tuesday, come along to BOXPARK Shoreditch, and get creative whilst listening to some of the best R&B and Rap Ballads. Under the guidance of spotlight artist, Calypso Art, attendees will be using the canvases, easels, paints and pencils supplied to craft their own masterpieces, under the theme of ‘Valentine’s Day’. An epic opportunity to view the work of some of London’s best emerging visual artists, and create work alongside them.

3. SPRING SUSTAINABILITY: Surplus Supper at Brixton People’s Kitchen
Since 2011, the team at Brixton People’s Kitchen have created a wholesome and welcoming environment that aims to bring people together through the sharing of food. Better still, they use only surplus food, and 100% of the profits go back into community causes. Pop along on Wednesdays to their weekly Surplus Supper, where for just £2, you can chat with the locals whilst enjoying a delicious dinner made from leftover fruits, vegetables, and store-cupboard essentials.

4. PLANT-BASED BRIXTON: The Vegan Supper Club

A plant-based party that’s open to all, The Vegan Supperclub at Brixton Jamm will play host to independent vegan food traders, as well as a selection of stalls dedicated to ethical shopping, health & wellbeing, too. Expect great DJs, a lively atmosphere, and a totally welcoming atmosphere – whether you’re a fully-blown herbivore, or simply keen to get a little more familiar with vegan living.

5. TRADE IT OR UPGRADE IT: Swish & Style

Hosted by Wise up To Waste, Swish & Style is your one-stop-shop for swapping unwanted clothes, and learning to give a new lease of life to items that you thought had well and truly had their day. You can bring up to fifteen items of clothes for swapping, or head along to one of the many workshops on upcycling, screen printing, repair, fabric dyeing, and Japanese techniques such as boro, run by the creative experts at Fast Fashion Therapy.
