3 acts of self care to boost your sexual wellbeing
Self-care stems much further than just running a bath and lighting your favourite candle. Here, our go-to sexual healing and empowerment advocate/guru, Grace Hazel, talks us through three of her top sexual wellbeing self-care tips.
KEEP IT CLEAN
Remove all kinds of soap, even natural soaps. The most I ever use is coconut oil, but water is just fine. When we start to use soaps, it can really negatively affect the pH of your vagina and vulva. Switching from things like non-organic tampons to a Mooncup or Thinx pants will help make sure you aren’t putting chemicals into your body.
BREAK THE TENSION
Self-massage, not necessarily self-pleasure, but a form of massage that just helps you to connect. Massage through your labia, and really feel and breathe into certain points, just as you would with any other part of your body. Hold a pressure point for a moment and then release, you’ll benefit from that kind of massage as much as you would from having a really deep massage on your back. Internal self-massage will also bring awareness to the tightness that your pelvic floor can cultivate through the stress of life, and it’s actually really beneficial for relaxation and releasing layers of tension and emotion that we hold when we pull up in our pelvic floor.
FIND YOUR CENTRE
Simple connection with your yoni (vagina) is fantastic. Breathing and bringing your attention all the way down through your womb, cervix, vagina, vulva will help you get connected. When you are aligned and connected, so much deep emotion comes up and when we go back you wonder why you’ve not been doing it the whole time.
