Wake up to organic with a free taster breakfast
In case you’ve been living in a processed bubble of late, the organic lifestyle is on an increasingly steep upward curve right now, and it has never been easer to embrace. It’s for this positive reason Organic UK is helping any potential virgins out there ease into their world with its #WakeUpToOrganic event on 12 June, helping to spread the word on the positive benefits of choosing organic, and celebrating with free samples of a range of organic food and drink.
After all, the benefits of going organic are myriad, ranging from produce with higher anti-oxidant capacity, reduced reliance on pesticides, a better taste and less impact on Mother Earth. By enjoying food as it should be, not only are we helping both animals and the planet, but also ourselves. In fact, with the modern trend for ethical animal treatment, and thirst to know precisely where your food is coming from, going organic has never been more relevant.
As a whole, the UK spent more than £2.3bn on organic fare in 2018, with 70% of consumers saying they trust organic food. And in a nod to the overall good buying organic is doing for our communities, sales of organic produce at independent retailers was up 6.2%, showing how making the switch is also helping our high streets.
The #WakeUpToOrganic events will not only show you the ease of obtaining organic products, but with a range of activities including cooking demonstrations and meet the producers events, it will also advise you how you can enjoy it and learn more about how it’s made.
Over 300 independent businesses will be encouraging shoppers to try free organic taster breakfasts at an array of local cafes, delis, farm shops and stores who will be showing off their wares and showcasing just how easy it is to make a choice for food that supports nature and the planet.
“It couldn’t be easier to get your day off to a great start and we are delighted at how many independent stores have pledged to join us in our fourth annual event,” says Aileen Nicol, Campaign Director at Organic UK. “Whether you’re already an organic shopper or you are yet to make the switch, ‘Wake Up To Organic’ is designed to spark the joy eating organic food brings.”
“There is now so much choice available which means that organic can be part of everyone’s everyday whilst benefitting ourselves, animals and the planet.”
