Three Natural Hacks for Balanced Hormones
Our hormones are vital chemical messengers that work together and affect many different aspects of our overall health. If we don’t have balanced hormones, it can lead to a variety of different health issues including unexplained weight gain or loss, digestive problems, irregular periods and fertility issues, depression, and severe fatigue.
Hormonal imbalances are caused by a number of different factors, with some of the main contributors including obesity, poor diet and high levels of inflammation, having high stress levels, being too sedentary, lack of sleep, and gut problems and food allergies.
GET BALANCED HORMONES
1. FIND THOSE FATS
Fats play a fundamental role in our hormone production process, and so we should be making sure we are incorporating a balance of healthy fats such as avocados, poached salmon and extra virgin olive oil into our diet.
We should be avoiding trans fats and oils such as canola, sunflower and corn as much as we can, as these types of fats are highly processed and can also affect the balance of our hormones.
2. REVERE THE REFINED CARBS
We also need to be mindful that we aren’t over-consuming refined carbohydrates such as white flour, white sugar and processed grains. These types of foods have been shown to affect the balance of our hormones.
3. STIFLE THE STRESS
Alongside nutrition, managing stress levels is equally important for naturally balancing your hormones. Your hormones and emotions are connected, so living under constant stress can really kick your hormones out of check.
Taking time to meditate, journal or practicing deep breathing for as little as 5 minutes per day can really lower your stress levels, and help you to achieve balanced hormones.
