Recipe: Sweet & spicy almonds for healthy winter skin
Another new year and with it, a long list of promises: ‘Gym four times a week.’ ‘Watch less TV.’ ‘Read more classics.’ Sure, sure. At least there is one thing we can try to keep under control during this season – our skin. There’s a strong chance the festive season wreaked havoc with your complexion, what with the late nights, alcohol and even more time indoors with the central heating. A smart addition to a skin-friendly diet, almonds are packed with 15 essential nutrients (per 100g) including vitamin E, an antioxidant which helps protect our cells from oxidative stress. Also, zinc and the B vitamins niacin and riboflavin are found in almonds and can help maintain healthy skin.
Saskia’s handy tip: ‘If I’m going through a bad time with my skin, along with my beauty products, I’ll be sure to include foods high in zinc, like almonds, to maintain healthy skin.’
