“In the 1980s I learnt about the dangers of dioxin pollution and the damaging impact of plastics. I was appalled to find my period products contained all these ingredients, and no natural disposable option existed,” says Natracare founder Susie Hewson. “My immediate response was to research and develop an alternative that actually respected our bodies and our planet.”
Part eco-warrior, part pioneer, Susie developed the world’s first organic cotton tampon in 1989. Working to be kind to health, kind to the planet and kind to people, Natracare aims to be responsible and ethical in all areas of its business. Whether that’s period pads, incontinence and maternity products or everyday care products, they are designed to be kinder to your skin and to the planet.
Susie also believes that actions speak louder than words and every year Natracare proudly donates one per cent of its turnover to environmental causes. As members of 1% for the Planet, it partners with amazing non-profits and charities such as the Marine Conservation Society, Women Engage for a Common Future, 5 Gyres, Turning Green and the Plastic Pollution Coalition.
