Agate: The May birthstone of peace and stability
Amiee Carlton, founder of Liferocks.store, attempts to bring the “out there” here, and unravel the minefield that is Crystals. Amiee is an energy and motivational coach. She uses crystals as a modality for realignment and stimulation of the subtle bodies. Her aim is to educate us on the vibrational powers of crystals one month at a time.
This month we are going to learn about Agate as a crystal that has been around since before 3000bc where it was used by the Egyptians, and often worn in jewellery by the ancient Indians.
Agate is an easy crystal to get your hands on and boasts a wide range of variations Agate is in fact the name given to a range of crystals that are in fact a banded chalcedony and a part of the quartz family.
There are many different types of agate that come in a rainbow of colour formations and in turn stimulate different parts of our human form in different ways. For instance, fire agate works on the lower chakras of the body’s energy enters, while, say, a blue lace agate would work to support the upper chakras like the throat and the third eye.
Moss agate is very grounding, supporting our root energy. It connects to the earth and brings peace and stability; calming mood swings and fascination to emotional drama. Increasing patience and inner calm.
What is interesting about the agate stone is that despite the varying options and colours and type of agate forming on the planet, the frequency and vibrational setting across all the agates is similarly lower in intensity, slower in vibrational frequency, and more stabilising than many other crystals used in healing.
For example working with a high vibrational stone like the blue lace agate, in comparison to other stones that support the third eye and throat, is slower to shift physical energy. This stone tends to slowly soothe and calm these areas allowing and enhancing the ability to slow thinking down or say, promote speaking in a clearer and more articulate fashion about one’s feelings. The positive of working with a slower frequency like this is a stabilising and strengthening influence that builds up a deep lasting resonate.
Agate is a stone on which to build foundations. A stone to work with if patience or time is needed to see things through and allow growth and steady process.
This frequency allows for a very deep and embedded energetic shift to occur in our vibrational field. Working to slowly and steadily align each chakra depending on which agate you may be using at any one time.
The effects of working with an Agate of any variety will not become obvious over night, but its results will be solidly embedded within the energetic body allowing for long term change and feelings of deep and grounded connection to the self.
To work with Agate and align your frequencies I suggest holding one in your left hand in a quiet space for 5 minutes a day for two weeks. Focus on your breath and allow your mind to wonder. Don’t “stop” thoughts but try to let them float by. The brain will go into alpha or theta brainwaves which allows the unconscious to become more accessible.
After five minutes (set a timer) write whatever comes to mind for two/three minutes. Don’t overthink it. Re-read your notes after two weeks and see what went on, you will be surprised.
Do note that a lot of the work and alignment and balancing will be going on in the few minutes you are holding the stone…..
If you can’t handle this, sleep with the crystal under your pillow and note your dreams on waking. Again, have a read after two weeks and see what went down in your unconscious hours…….
