7 things Fearne Cotton can’t go to a festival without
Festivals are often brilliant long after the event. Admittedly at the time you’re pining for your own bed, clean clothes and a hot shower. And
then, weeks and months later, you look back, puff out your cheeks and marvel, “Best weekend ever.”
To ensure you actually enjoy yourself while you’re there, the Balance team, spearheaded by our guest editor Fearne Cotton, has put together a run down of all the essentials (and, in some instances, not so essentials) you’ll need so that you can maintain good mental and physical health while living in a field. Although to slightly contradict that, Fearne’s first suggestion is to actually escape said field…
Off-Site Sleeping
Fearne says “I wouldn’t sleep at a festival these days. Last time I went to Glastonbury, I slept off-site. The communal camping area is too noisy and I’m such a bad sleeper; I’ll wake up if I hear a tree blowing in the wind. When I was younger I’d be so drunk, I’d just fall asleep. Believe me, that helped! These days, sleep is such an issue for me, so either find somewhere external to the festival site, or do a day and go home. Off-site sleeping is a really good idea if you can do it. It can be the same price as camping, but you might have to book way ahead, or they’ll go!”
Wet Wipes
Fearne says “OK, they’re not necessarily great for the environment, but I always take wet wipes. I’m constantly wiping my hands and using hand sanitiser. These are a great idea and make you feel ever so slightly cleaner than you actually are...”
