It’s the super worm equinox tonight — but what the F does that mean?
It’s a big day. Not only is it a supermoon, meaning the full moon happens when it’s near the closest approach to the earth so it will be larger and brighter than usual, but also it’s a super worm moon and the vernal equinox.
WHAT THE DEVIL DOES THAT MEAN, YOU UNDERSTANDABLY ASK?
The name comes from old time farming practices and references the tradition for worms emerging around the March full moon.
You may (or may not) remember the February full moon was referred to as a ‘Snow Moon’ and January’s a ‘Wolf Moon’ — names that, like Worm Moon, are rooted in North American tradition. The next are the adorably named Pink and Flower Moons.
Another noteworthy thing about tonight’s full moon is it coincides with the northern hemisphere’s spring equinox a.k.a vernal equinox — which is where the sun crosses the Earth’s equatorial plane, making day and night the same length of time. (And it’s the start of spring, thank furk!)
It’s the first time this has happened in over 100 years, with the last recorded in March 1905, and the next will be 2144, according to experts. So, unless there are any giant leaps in longevity science in the near future, it’s the only time we’ll experience it in our lives.
With full illumination just before 2am, it should be visible from England — though the north west may find it more difficult.

SO ENOUGH OF THE SOFTCORE ASTROLOGY, WHAT DOES THIS MEAN FOR OUR ENERGY?
You’ll be happy to hear the Worm Moon, which comes from the Old Farmer’s Almanac, is all about healing and growth.
The supermoon is a time for transformations, beginnings and ends — and it can feel that is a little more intense than usual, with energies heightened.
The equinox marks the move from Pisces to Aries; with a focus on rebirth, growth and abundance. It’s also the start of a new astrological year, so it’s about fresh starts and resetting stale areas of our lives.
It’s also a time to focus on relationships as the full moon is in Libra, making it a good time to reflect on their health through communication (which means you may be struggling to see eye to eye if you’re having a tricky time with your partner). It’s not just about current pairings, but also new ones too — with the possibility of special, key people coming onto your radar.
All in all, it’s a positive time so spend it doing things with people you like loads; whether it’s chatting, meditating, affirmations or just snoozing.
And, it goes without saying that Mercury is still in retrograde, so don’t be surprised if you’re feeling a bit batsh*t with all this going on.
