Shoreditch events collective SuperCulture will host a series of events tackling male mental health in January 2018 with DJs, broadcasters and musicians including Professor Green, SBTV’s Jamal Edwards, DJ High Rankin, Jordan Stevens (Rizzle Kicks) and more.

The events will be in collaboration with three partners: The Book of Man Magazine, DJ and broadcaster High Rankin and Fashion Collective Flower Up.

Held at The Book Club and Hoxton Square Bar & Kitchen, the events, will range from Dad’s Brunches, to workshops lead by the trans community; panel talks on music and mental health, live podcasts and secret gigs with a portion of all ticket sales going to the Suicide Prevention charity Calm. The closing event will be the spectacular ‘Night of 1,000 Cocks’ – a penis gallery to promote body positivity as part of The Book of Man’s Festival of New Masculinity.

As part of The Book of Man’s ‘Festival of New Masculinity’, it’s time for the Dads to take care of the children on a Sunday morning. Come to our brunch for some food, a chat, a screening of Indiana Jones, and grooming goodies for the Dads.

Kids must be aged between 5 and above.

All proceeds will go to CALM.

Untangling Mental Health in Music Live Podcast with High Rankin & Threshold FM at Hoxton Square Bar & Kitchen

High Rankin and threshold.fm host a series of 3 live podcasts with Superculture focussed on trying to untangle mental health in the riddle of music industry mental health. People are dropping out of the music industry at an alarming rate. With high profile artists like Deadmau5 and Hardwell signing off indefinitely and the recent death of Avicci by suicide it’s time we took a serious look are how the music industry is affecting the mental health of its members.

Producer, DJ and comedian High Rankin will be joined by panels of guests including Eddy Temple Morris, a board member for CALM and Virgin Radio DJ. Legendary Beatboxer and HipHop artist Killa Kela. Producer and consistent boundary pusher, Dylan Richards. One half of The Freestylers and psychologist Matt Cantor. Live performer and technologist, Tim Exile and more to be announced soon. The podcast’s aim is to try and lay out some of the problems and propose some possible solutions or at the very least, some tactics to try and mitigate against some of the issues. We believe with a focus on community, physical health and a quest for meaningful work we can look to improve the lives of individuals and the industry as a whole.
