World Oceans Day Music Event with Project 0

June 8, 2019 @ 12:00 pm - 6:00 pm

   |   Project 0

This World Oceans Day, Saturday 8 June, enjoy a host of activities in Carnaby, in partnership with ocean conservation organisation Project 0. A celebration for eco-conscious & ocean-enthusiasts alike, expect live music, talks, ocean-themed artwork and installations, as well as appearances from Project 0’s ambassadors.

Taking place during Soho Music Month, visitors can relax in a festival setting on Carnaby’s Ganton Street, complete with a ‘grass’ lawn, bean bags, photo booth, free ice lollies (while stocks last) and live music from 12-6pm. Curated by artist and producer Luis Felber, enjoy a fusion of Latin, Afrobeat and Jazz with music collective Lokkhi Terra, cool Indie sounds from ALLTHINGSMATA, sultry vocals from Delilah Holliday and electric soul from Ese & The Vooduu People, along with laid-back tunes from Vista Kicks and St Martiins.

With stark warnings about global ocean conservation and the over use of single use plastics, World Oceans Day has never been more significant, with people around our blue planet celebrating and honouring the ocean together on this day. Learn what you can do to help protect our oceans at the Project 0 pop-up exhibition at 3 Newburgh Street. Visitors can experience stunning pieces of art by Elizabeth Hoff and photographs by Tim Atkins of Micro Plastic Pollution in beautiful styled dishes. Books by ocean photographer Ben Thouard will be available to purchase and exclusive Salt-T t shirts from iconic rockstar Slash.

The brand-new limited edition Carnaby X Project 0 tote bags can also be purchased, featuring environmentally themed artwork from six eco-conscious and influential designers; Tracey Emin, Fearne Cotton, Georgia May Jagger, Holly St Clair, Julian Höenig, and Suki Waterhouse. The head-turning, reusable bags are printed on recycled cotton canvas and feature striking aesthetics that depict the ocean and address the environmental impact on marine life. Bags cost £15, with 100% of funds raised from the sale of the bags going to conservation work in the Thames.

Project 0 are raising awareness of the urgent need to protect the ocean, with the ultimate goal of getting 30% of the ocean under protection by 2030. The tote bags are also available to buy at weareprojectzero.org.
