  • Tara Scott, Moody Month
  • Dr. Stella Bullo, senior lecturer in linguistics, Manchester Metropolitan University; researcher into the language of endometriosis

Your ticket also includes a goody bag, with treats from TOTM, Ayumi, and more.

While endometriosis has seeped more decisively into mainstream consciousness in the last few years, women are still frequently misdiagnosed or simply told that as periods are ‘meant’ to be painful, nothing out of the ordinary is going on.

This lack of recognition and awareness creates a haze of silence, stifling innovation and discovery in the field while making it more difficult for women to seek help openly and confidently.

Techniques such as meditation and mindfulness, along with new devices designed for comfort and convenience, are changing the conversation about endometriosis to one that focuses on helping women to thrive rather than feeling trapped by their symptoms.

In the UK, one in ten women have endometriosis. On average, a woman will wait 7.5 years from first experiencing symptoms to receiving a diagnosis.

There is no known cure for endometriosis. During those 7.5 years, and well beyond them, women living with the condition face the daily task of managing their symptoms and doing what they can to improve their quality of life in a world that often doesn’t recognise their pain or take their experiences seriously. Above all, there is no focus on women with endometriosis living joyful and meaningful lives.

Please note that this room is accessible via short staircase. If you have special access requirements, please let us know in advance.
